Recently I’ve been asked to write a post on creating a blog and Instagram feed that follows a theme; it was extremely flattering and mind-boggling. With some imposter syndrome and doubt, I purchased my first ever blogging bundle [Genius Blogger Toolkit 2020] for a better way to explain the process and all. (If you want to hear more about this, you should tune in to this month’s newsletter…) Looking for credibility and wisdom, I searched to find the right words for it all; how do you create.
All the free trials and eCourses could make you dizzy, but the most important thing to keep in mind is your why. The reason why you want to start a blog is unique to you and one of the most important elements of beginning a blog. One of the most helpful tools for helping me find my why is Ubersuggest; a keyword search tool. Neil Patel’s newsletters are extremely helpful to bloggers of any expertise and his website is filled with tools to help bloggers flourish.
Here’s what you really need to know to start a blog:
Write about what you care about.
Do what feels right to you.
Follow accounts who post content you enjoy and post content you enjoy.
Create when you are inspired. Feeling writers/creators block? There’s inspiration all around us!
That’s it. No big paragraphs, separated by fancy headings to further analyze those words. As with many things in life; it truly is that simple. If you discover after a while that writing isn’t your thing or you have other tools you’d like to explore creating with, that’s okay! Quitting your blog to do something more fun for you is part of the process. Maybe you enjoy filming videos or painting more; maybe your blog is simply a compilation of all the things you create: art, music, videos, podcasts, etc.

I bought the Genius Bloggers Toolkit this year too! There are so many courses that I bookmarked and can’t wait to get to as well.
I love your point about writing what you care about. For me, I struggled with what I wanted to write about and what niche I wanted to define myself by. In the end, I decided to write about life at university and blogging tips because hey, those are the two things that pretty much dominate my life these days!

Same, that is like the ultimate resource of resources!! I appreciate that, as someone who doesn’t totally fall into a niche I don’t want to come off saying that you need to write about the same thing alllll the time but it’s definitely easier to connect with writers and bloggers like you if you tend to stick to the same topics!

So informative. We also write with inspirarion. Problem is when the well runs dry! I suppose we are lucky because there are two of us who can take turns. What do you do to find inspiration?

True, feeling like ink is running dry or our flame is dimming can be the absolute worst feeling for a creative. Before anything, taking a break is essential for me when I need inspiration. Pinterest is a close second though lol I recommend also going through your old posts to draw inspiration or extend on those!! I really hope this helps ❤
